Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha is a non-profit organization that was established in 2010 with the aim and determination to make a difference in the lives of the needy, especially the underprivileged children and women in Maharashtra. Through its various projects and programmes, Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha has been working in the fields of education, health, village development, support for orphanages, disaster relief, and medical support for children with severe illnesses. Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha believes that education is the key to unlock the potential of every individual and create a world of equity and dignity for all.

One of the main focus areas of Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha is women’s education and empowerment. Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha recognizes that women face multiple challenges and barriers in accessing education and employment opportunities, due to social, cultural, and economic factors. Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha also understands that empowering women is not only beneficial for their own well-being, but also for their families, communities, and the nation as a whole. Therefore, Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha has been implementing a range of initiatives and schemes to promote women’s education and empowerment, with a focus on providing equal opportunities, skill development, and financial independence.

Some of the initiatives and schemes that Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha has been running for women are:

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Andolan

This is a nationwide campaign launched by the Government of India in 2015, to address the declining child sex ratio and to encourage the education and protection of girl children. Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha has been actively participating in this campaign, by creating awareness among the people, especially in rural areas, about the importance of educating and valuing girl children. Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha has also been providing financial assistance, scholarships, and mentoring to girl students, to help them pursue their education and achieve their dreams.

Working Women Hostels

This is a scheme launched by the Government of India, to provide safe and convenient accommodation to working women, especially those who migrate from rural to urban areas for employment. Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha has been facilitating the implementation of this scheme, by identifying and supporting the construction and maintenance of working women hostels in various districts of Maharashtra. These hostels provide affordable and comfortable lodging facilities, along with basic amenities, security, and guidance to working women.

Skill Development and Livelihood Programmes:

These are programmes designed to enhance the employability and entrepreneurship skills of women, especially those who are from marginalized and vulnerable sections of the society. Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha has been conducting various skill development and livelihood programmes, such as tailoring, embroidery, handicrafts, beauty parlour, computer literacy, etc., for women, in collaboration with various government and non-government agencies. These programmes not only provide training and certification to women, but also link them with market opportunities and financial institutions, to help them start their own businesses or find suitable jobs.

Micro-Financing and Self-Help Groups

These are initiatives aimed at providing financial inclusion and empowerment to women, especially those who are from rural and low-income backgrounds. Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha has been promoting and supporting the formation and functioning of women’s self-help groups (SHGs), which are small groups of women who save and lend money among themselves, for their personal and collective needs. Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha has also been facilitating the access of these SHGs to micro-financing institutions, banks, and government schemes, to help them avail loans and subsidies for their income-generating activities.

Through these initiatives and schemes, Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha has been able to reach and impact thousands of women in Maharashtra, and empower them with education, skills, and financial independence. These women have not only improved their own lives, but also inspired and influenced their families and communities, to create a positive change in the society. Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha has also been advocating for the inclusion of gender considerations in policy making and creating a world of equity and dignity for all women.

Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha is not just an NGO; it is a movement dedicated to nurturing the dreams of women and children in the region. Through its innovative and holistic approach, Kokan Kala Va Shikshan Vikas Sanstha has emerged as a driving force for positive change.
