Gowrav was diagnosed with OsteoSarcoma (cancer) at the age of 7. While all children were visiting school and acquiring new skills, he was visiting hospitals for his treatment of cancer.

For Gowrav school was just like a dream, but unfortunately, cancer had made his and his family's life difficult (as his family did not have sufficient funds for his treatments). He belongs to Shettahalli Hobli; his father works as a daily wage worker (farmer / coolie), and his mother is a homemaker. (Gowrav’s parents had two daughters who died due to critical medical conditions a few years ago ).

His father barely earns Rs. 1700 monthly. The cost of the main treatment was Rs. 3,08,000, and was successfully raised through Donor/wellwisher contributions. (Child Gowrav has undergone a successful surgery at Sparsh Hospital as recommended by his treating Doctor from Bharat Hospital, he is now advised to have regular followup sessions at Bharath Hospital, Mysore on a Quarterly basis.)
